UFC on FX 2 Predictions

After putting on an entertaining fight card in Japan, the Ultimate Fighting Championship will now head over to Australia for UFC on FX 2. The event will be held on March 3, at the Allphones Arena in Sydney, Australia. Here are my predictions for the entire UFC on FX 2 fight card:

Thiago Alves versus Martin Kampmann

This is a very interesting matchup between two of the best strikers in the UFC’s welterweight division. Alves has lost three of his last five fights, while Kampmann has lost three of his last six. Two of Kampmann’s losses are disputable though, so his record might be a bit misleading. Kampmann is the more technical striker, and he’s pretty good at keeping the fight where he wants it. As long as Kampmann avoids Alves’ powerful strikes, he should walk away victorious at UFC on FX 2. Kampmann wins by decision.

Joseph Benavidez versus Yasuhiro Urushitani

Urushitani is currently on a five fight winning streak, but he’ll have his hands full when he faces Benavidez at UFC on FX 2. Given his accomplishments as a bantamweight, Benavidez is one of the best fighters in the UFC’s flyweight division, and I expect him to dominate Urushitani. Benavidez wins via decision.

Ian McCall versus Demetrious Johnson

Very tough fight to call, Johnson was impressive at 135 pounds, and I expect him to perform a lot better at 125. McCall is certainly one of the best flyweight MMA fighters in the world, and he should be able to hold his own against “Mighty Mouse” at UFC on FX 2. It should be a very close fight, but I’m leaning towards Demetrious. Johnson wins by decision.

Court McGee versus Constantinos Philippou

Both MMA fighters have solid grappling skills, but McGee is a little better at controlling his opponents. As long as he avoids Philippou’s heavy hands, he should be able to edge out a decision.

Undercard:

James Te Huna defeats Aaron Rosa

Anthony Perosh defeats Nick Penner

Cole Miller defeats Steven Siler

Kyle Noke defeats Andrew Craig

Jake Hecht defeats T.J. Waldburger

Daniel Pineda defeats Mackens Semerzier

Oli Thompson defeats Shawn Jordan
