“UFC Live 6” turned out to be better than anticipated, with only two fights on the entire card requiring the services of the judges. Here are the results of the “UFC Live 6” fight card held at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.
Dominick Cruz defeats Demetrious Johnson
Cruz looked good defending his UFC bantamweight belt, keeping fans entertained for the entire duration of the MMA fight. Johnson fought hard right until the end, but wasn’t able to convince the judges. Cruz walked away with the unanimous decision, securing his second UFC title defense (fourth counting WEC title defenses).
Stephan Struve defeats Pat Barry
Struve came into his own against Barry, using his reach to dominate the striking. The MMA fight finally went to the ground and Struve was able to lock up a triangle choke, aided once again by his long limbs. Barry tried to slam his way out of the choke, but Struve held on to the triangle, finishing the MMA fight in the second round.
Anthony Johnson defeats Charlie Brenneman
Johnson had no problems enforcing his will on Brenneman, knocking him out in the first round with a head-kick. Referee Mario Yamasaki stopped the MMA fight a bit early, but things were only going to get worse for Brenneman after the head-kick. With the win, Johnson is one step closer to a shot at the UFC’s welterweight title.
Matt Wiman defeats Mac Danzig
Wiman proved his prior win over Danzig wasn’t a fluke, earning the close unanimous decision at “UFC Live 6.” Both MMA fighters had their moments during the fight, but Wiman was able to win over the judges with his strikes inside the clinch.
