Finishes were rare on the “UFC on FX 4” main card, but it was still a decent MMA event. Here are the results of the UFC on FX 4 fight card held on June 22, at the Revel Casino in Atlantic City, N.J:
Gray Maynard defeats Clay Guida
Guida came out with an interesting game-plan against Maynard, utilizing some pretty slick footwork, while landing some crisp counters. It wasn’t the aggressive Guida UFC fans are used to, but his tactics worked well against Maynard. However, the judges weren’t impressed with Guida’s strategy, handing Maynard the split-decision.
Sam Stout defeats Spencer Fisher
Stout displayed his improved wrestling at UFC on FX 4, mixing up his strikes with a few takedowns. Both men landed their share of decent shots, but Stout continued having success with his wrestling as the fight progressed, edging out the rounds with his takedowns. All three judges gave Stout the nod.
Brian Ebersole defeats T.J. Waldburger
Waldburger dropped Ebersole with a left hand during the opening moments of their UFC on FX 4 encounter. But Ebersole showed a lot of heart, surviving a tight garce choke before finally getting back to his feet. Ebersole controlled the fight with his grappling in the latter rounds, escaping multiple submission attempts while dishing out some brutal shots on the ground. All three judges scored the fight 29-28 in favor of Ebersole.
Cub Swanson defeats Ross Pearson
Both men came out swinging at UFC on FX 4, with Swanson landing some pretty spectacular shots. However, Pearson evened out the fight with his wrestling, scoring with a few takedowns and some brutal ground-and-pound. Unfortunately for Pearson, he got caught with a left hook towards the end of the second round, forcing referee Yves Lavigne to stop the fight.
