Zach Makovsky and Tim Elliot are both top fifteen Flyweights looking to reenter the title picture after recent setbacks.
A win at UFC Fight Night 60 would be the first step down the path; a must-win for the hungriest of the two.
In the first round, Makovsky battered Elliot on the ground, pressuring and pouring on heavy ground n’ pound. Elliot fought back but wasn’t in a position to make his presence known through the round
Tim Elliot could in round two. He landed the better of the strikes for much of the round, and gained position for a guillotine choke on the ground, but nothing came of it. Zach Makovsky still controlled top position and that may have carried him through the round.
The third round was largely controlled by Makovsky, whose wrestling left Tim Elliot with little means to respond. Makovsky was hurt by a body slam late in the round, but Elliot couldn’t follow up on the ground when the chance finally presented itself.
Makovsky, #10, defeated Elliot, #11, via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
