UFC 183 Results: Thiago Alves Knockouts Jordan Mein After Slow Start

To start the UFC 183 Pay-Per-View broadcast, MMA veteran Thiago “Pitbull” Alves faced off against bright young upstart Jordan Mein.

Mein, 25, scored an emphatic KO victory over Mike Pyle in his last fight, and was looking for his third-straight win against Alves.

Thiago Alves, much like Pyle, is highly experienced. He is also very explosive and unpredictable when he’s at his best. This match-up looked juicy at 170lbs, with both men holding some good selling points going in.

Jordan Mein landed punches, elbows, and kicks through the guard of Alves, who was on shaky legs for much of the final two minutes of round one.

Alves looked like the older man; missing with his punches as Mein ducked and dodged with fluidity. The Canadian barely missed a stoppage, and was in full control of the bout as catastrophe struck.

A well-placed right kick to the solar plexus sent Jordan Mein downward. The young prodigy was an immobilized target, as Alves swung and took home a second round stoppage victory.

To steal the words from the Brazilian’s very mouth, “Welterweight division: Guess who’s back?”

Alves stole the spotlight at UFC 183 with a spectacular comeback victory.
