Tim Boetsch and Thales Leites are both fringe UFC Middleweight contenders.

Win or lose, these top-fifteen ranked 185lb fighters were sure to put on a show. Not one for the purist — but the blood-n’-guts MMA fans.

Tim Boetsch brawled to win the first round of this UFC 183 showdown. Throwing wide combinations, he was made to pay for his mistakes, but landed his left and right hand on point throughout. Thales Leites was hurt late in the round one by one of Boetsch’s combinations, but never came too close to being finished.

The second round played out a little bit differently.

Tim Boetsch caught Leites early, and did some damage. Unfortunately for him, the fight went to the ground, where was forced into bottom position, and simply couldn’t handle the Brazilian’s grappling skills.

After a couple of spirited attempts, Leites eventually forced an arm triangle choke, and scored an important victory at UFC 183.
