UFC 129 provided MMA fans with numerous entertaining fights, and Randy Couture’s retirement from the sport. UFC 129 took place at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada, and featured Canadian UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre defending his belt against one of the toughest welterweight fighters in the world, Jake Shields. Here are the results for UFC 129.

Georges St. Pierre defeats Jake Shields

This MMA fight surprisingly turned out to be an all stand up affair, with GSP dominating the striking. Shields did land enough punches of his own to close GSP’s left eye. GSP regained his composure, and eventually won the MMA fight by unaminous decision.

Jose Aldo defeats Mark Hominick

Very entertaining fight that turned out to be more competitive than many MMA fans expected. Hominick made the most of his title shot, earning the respect of many even in defeat. At the end of the day, Hominick’s huge heart wasn’t enough to get him past Aldo’s world class Muay Thai. Aldo got the unaminous decision and retained his UFC featherweight title.

Lyoto Machida defeats Randy Couture

MMA legend Randy Couture’s exit from the sport didn’t go as well as he would have liked. Machida dominated Couture in the first round, and finished him off with a front kick in the second round. After his tough loss, Couture announced his retirement from the sport of MMA.

Vladimir Matyushenko defeats Jason Brilz

Matyushenko made quick work of Brilz, knocking him out in only 20 seconds. A good win for the MMA veteran, who has only been defeated by UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones, and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in the past eight years!

Benson Henderson defeats Mark Bocek

Henderson performed as expected, dominating Bocek in all three rounds. Henderson didn’t lose a single round on any of the judges scorecards, winning his UFC debut convincingly.
