The UFC welterweight champion of the world will face one of his toughest challengers when he steps into the Octagon with former Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields, at the UFC 129 MMA fight event scheduled for April 30. Shields has been one of the most entertaining MMA fighters in recent times, and has been undefeated in his last 15 fights. The UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre is no slouch either. GSP is considered by many to be one of the top MMA fighters on the planet, and will be ready when the two men meet at the Rogers Center in Toronto, Canada. Here are my predictions for the UFC 129 MMA fight event.
Georges St. Pierre versus Jake Shields
Tough fight to call, both MMA fighters are really good wrestlers with GSP having a slight edge. GSP’s striking is crisper and it should help him win rounds. GSP will be tested more that he has in any of his previous fights, but at the end the champion will reign supreme. GSP wins by decision.
Jose Aldo versus Mark Hominick
Aldo should be well motivated for his UFC debut fight. Hominick is tough, but doesn’t have enough to take the featherweight title from the champion. Aldo wins by TKO
Randy Couture versus Lyoto Machida
If Couture can grapple Machida to the ground, he should be able to dominate the fight for three rounds. However, Machida will probably have no problems stuffing his takedowns like he did against Rashad Evans. He will eventually catch couture and end the MMA legend’s night. Machida wins by TKO.
Benson Henderson versus Mark Bocek
Hard to go against the former WEC lightweight champion Henderson in this MMA fight. His wrestling should keep him safe on the way to the easy unanimous decision.
Vladimir Matyushenko versus Jason Brilz
While Matyushenko is the more experienced fighter, Brilz should have no problems controlling the fight and adding one more win to his MMA record. Jason Brilz wins by TKO.
