TUF 19 Finale Predictions

Opposing Coaches on the 19th season of The Ultimate Fighter reality TV series, BJ Penn and Frankie Edgar will share the same Octagon for the third time at the TUF 19 Finale. The card is set for July 6 at the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas. Nev.

Here are my TUF 19 Finale predictions:

B.J. Penn vs. Frankie Edgar

Frankie(16-4-1, 4 KOs) couldn’t have been any more dominant during his first two fights against Penn (16-9-2, 7 KOs), and there’s no reason to think their third encounter will be any different. Frankie’s utilized his crisp boxing, speed, and footwork to earn the two relatively easy decisions, and that was back when B.J. was in his prime.

Factor in the fact Penn’s cardio – which has always been an issue throughout his MMA career – seems to be even worse nowadays, and it’s hard to see the prodigy emerging victorious from this TUF 19 Finale bout.

Prediction: Edgar wins via TKO.

Kevin Lee vs. Jesse Ronson

Lee (7-1-0, 4 submissions) put on a valiant effort during his UFC debut, but it wasn’t enough to get him past Al Iaquinta. His opponent Ronson (13-4-0, 6 KOs) will also be looking for his first win inside the Octagon, currently sporting a 0-2 record in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Ronson seems to be the technically superior striker on paper, but he might have issues controlling where the fight takes place against an opponent like Lee. It should be a close competitive fight, but I can’t go against Lee given how good he looked during his fight against Iaquinta.

Prediction: Lee wins via decision.
