The fourth installment of “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil” was filmed in Las Vegas instead of Brazil, so it’s not that surprising the Finale will be held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
The event will be headlined by an intriguing matchup featuring middleweight contenders Lyoto Machida and Yoel Romero.
Here are my Ultimate Fighter Brazil 4 Finale predictions:
Lyoto Machida vs. Yoel Romero
Machida (22-6-0, 9 KOs) has lost two of his last three fights, but it was against the two best fighters in the middleweight division right now. Romero (9-1-0, 8 KOs) on the other hand has been flawless ever since he joined the UFC’s roster, racking up wins against decent opposition.
Still, Romero will be taking a step up in competition when he faces Machida at the Ultimate Fighter Brazil 4 Finale.
Machida is like kryptonite for most wrestlers, but Romero might be the exception to that rule.
His striking is good enough to keep the standup exchanges a lot closer than many expect, and he’s a considerably better wrestler. Romero had little problem securing takedowns against the likes of Tim Kennedy and Derek Brunson, so I expect him to do more of the same when he faces Machida.
Of course, there’s always a chance Brunson gets caught by one of Machida’s well-disguised kicks, but if he brings his A-game and keeps his hands up at the TUF 4 Finale, he should be the victor when it’s all said and done.
Prediction: Yoel Romero wins via decision.
Rick Story vs. Erick Silva
Story (18-8-0, 4 KOs) scored a huge upset during his last outing, defeating Gunnar Nelson in enemy territory. Silva (18-5-0, 11 submission) is yet to live up to the expectations placed on him given his potential, but he has racked up two impressive stoppages, even though the quality of opponents he’s faced is questionable.
Silva is the technically superior striker heading into this contest, and his BJJ skills are excellent. Story’s striking arsenal isn’t as diverse as Silva’s, but his basics are good enough, and he’s tough as nails.
No reason why Story shouldn’t slip-n-rip his way to victory here.
Predictions: Rick Story wins via decision.
