Even though there were only two stoppages on the “Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Kennedy” fight card, it certainly wasn’t a boring event. Here are the results of the Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Kennedy fight card held on July 14, at the Rose Garden in Portland, Ore:
Luke Rockhold defeats Tim Kennedy
The Strikeforce middleweight champion dominated his encounter against Kennedy, out-striking the former Green Beret. Kennedy did better in the grappling department, but he didn’t do enough to impress the judges, who all scored the fight 49-46 in favor of Rockhold.
Nate Marquardt defeats Tyron Woodley
Woodley landed the first big shot of the fight, but Marquardt came right back at him, landing some pretty solid punches of his own in the first round. “The Great” dominated the second round, but Woodley turned things around in the third. However, Marquardt came out swinging in the fourth round, punishing Woodley against the cage before finishing him off with a vicious uppercut. With the win, Marquardt secured the Strikeforce welterweight title.
Roger Gracie defeats Keith Jardine
After a brief feeling out period, Roger tripped Jardine to the canvas. “The Dean of Mean” was able to wall-walk back to his feet, but Gracie immediately took him back down, landing several solid shots on the ground, opening up some nasty cuts on Jardine’s head. Gracie did more of the same in the second round, but he wasn’t able to take Jardine down during the final round. Fortunately for Gracie, he held his own in the striking department, walking away with the unanimous decision.
Lorenz Larkin defeats Robbie Lawler
Larkin looked awesome in his middleweight debut, dominating his encounter against Lawler. Larkin got the better of the striking exchanges throughout the fight, and he didn’t seem dehydrated by the weight cut, never letting up until the final bell. All three judges scored the fight 30-27 in favor of Larkin.
Pat Healy defeats Mizuto Hirota (unanimous decision)
Ryan Couture defeats Joe Duarte (split decision)
Jorge Masvidal defeats Justin Wilcox (split decision)
Jordan Mein defeats Tyler Stinson (unanimous decision)
Jason High defeats Nate Moore (guillotine choke, round one)
