ProElite Arlovski vs. Lopez results: Reagan Penn impresses in MMA debut

The failed MMA promotion known as ProElite made a successful return to the sport on August 27. The ProElite Arlovski vs. Lopez fight card was surprisingly stacked compared to the promotions previous fight cards, and fans at the Neil S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, were clearly entertained. Here are the results for the ProElite Arlovski vs. Lopez MMA fight card, held on August 27.

Andrei Arlovski defeats Ray Lopez

Lopez did better than many MMA fans expected, almost going three rounds with the former UFC heavyweight champion. In the end, Arlovski was able to out-grapple Lopez and finish him off with some solid ground-and-pound in the third round.

Kendall Grove defeats Joe Riggs

The “Ultimate Fighter” season three winner looked good in his hometown, quickly securing a standing guillotine and finishing the fight in less than a minute.

Reagan Penn defeats Paul Gardiner

BJ Penn’s younger brother looked good in his MMA debut, displaying some serious BJJ skills. Penn had no problems getting the fight to the ground, where he quickly secured a rear-naked choke shortly after.

Mark Ellis defeats Jake Heun

Ellis’ wrestling ability proved to be the difference maker, as the 2009 NCAA Division I heavyweight champion had no problems getting the fight to the ground. Ellis eventually secured a rear-naked choke, finishing the fight in the second round.

Sarah McMann defeats Raquel Pa’aluhi

McMann looked good against Pa’aluhi, dominating the fight rather easily. With the win, McMann improves her MMA record to 4-0.

Drew McFedries defeats Garrett Olsen

McFedries’ hands looked good as always, as he brutalized Olsen with some vicious punches (and surprisingly a few kicks) in the first round, before finishing him with some ground-and-pound in the second round.

Undercard

Kaleo Gambill defeats Eldon Sproat (TKO, round one)

Dustin Barca defeats Reno Remigio (doctor stoppage, round two)

Brent Schermerhorn defeats Jesse Kaala-Akana Lundgren (KO, round one)

Joey Palamia defeats Chad Thomas (unanimous decision)
