Matt Brown officially enters UFC welterweight title mix

Some MMA fighters choose to practice what they preach, others talk a lot and put in the work to back it up, and then you have Matt Brown, who just keeps on fighting until he gets some much-deserved attention.

Brown, 33, has seven straight wins in the UFC cage.

If that’s not enough, Brown has won all seven by way of KO or TKO. On May 10th, he scored one of his most breathtaking yet, a wild third-round KO of Erick Silva.

Silva, 29, started strong. The Brazilian mixed martial artist’s body blows impacted the UFC veteran. After taking damage in the first half of round one, “The Immortal” unleashed his inner strength, his man-power. Brown crushed Silva and kept on firing off strikes until the end of an amazing round one, and continued to do so through the second phase.

Silva never backed down. The former “Jungle Fight” champion gave everything he had in this classic slopper-knocker. What started as a well-rounded approach turned into an instinctual fight for survival. His mindset, tendencies showed themselves as he matured right before our eyes.

The win saw an exuberant Brown lash out a challenge to Welterweight champion Johnny Hendricks, who recently overcame Robbie Lawler, another potential opponent, to capture the vacant title. One thing is for sure — Brown is in the mix.
