Not surprisingly, Floyd Mayweather Sr. isn’t the biggest Manny Pacquiao fan on the planet, and he thinks the WBO welterweight champion will be in over his head when he faces undefeated Timothy Bradley on June 9.
Mayweather took a few shots at Pacquiao during a recent interview with Percy Crawford, suggesting the Filipino congressman used performance enhancing drugs at some point in his career.
“I believe Pacman started his thing with De La Hoya and then De La Hoya on down until he fought Marquez the last time,” Mayweather said. “When he fought Marquez the third time, guest what! You know who got they [expletive] whooped. He was clean I guess, because he thought he was fighting Floyd next.”
Obviously, Floyd Mayweather Sr. attributes some of Manny’s success to PEDs, and he doesn’t think the Filipino congressman is capable of defeating Bradley without some extra help.
“I’m going to say that right now, if nothing going on, he gonna get his butt kicked,” Mayweather added. “Now if something going on, watch how bad Pacquiao beat his [expletive]. When you start seeing him doing some stuff like that, running over Timothy Bradley, I’m telling you right now man, Pacquiao can’t just run over no Timothy Bradley. He can’t run over no guy like that. I’m just telling you the facts, man. He can’t do it.”
Under normal circumstances, a bout against Bradley would be a relatively easy fight for Manny, but things are a little different this time around. The 33 year old has been under a lot of pressure ever since his controversial decision against Juan Manuel Marquez last November and Bradley is certainly no pushover.
Manny Pacquiao blamed marital problems for his poor performance against Marquez, but he does have a lot more on his plate going into his fight against Bradley (legal problems in the Philippines and tension between training staff members). I definitely don’t expect him to run through Bradley, and I expect a very competitive fight.
