MMA legend Fedor “The Last Emperor” Emelianenko will be returning to action on Nov. 12, against Jeff “The Snowman” Monson. The two seasoned MMA veterans will meet in Russia, under the M-1 Global banner.
“Nov 12th vs. Fedor in Russia M-1 confirmed” Monson tweeted, confirming the MMA fight via his Twitter account on Sept. 6.
After mesmerizing MMA fans for almost a decade, Fedor is currently on a three fight losing streak. Some think Fedor’s recent loses are a sign it’s time to wrap things up, given the fact he has been finished in all three loses.
In reality, Antonio Silva is the only MMA fighter that has dominated Fedor during his losing streak. Call me crazy, but I’ll still put my money on Fedor in a rematch with either Fabricio Werdum or Dan Henderson.
Monson (42-12) will be a good test for Fedor. If Emelianenko handles “The Snowman” convincingly in November, fans will know the Russian MMA fighter still has some fight left in him. If Fedor struggles, or by some weird twist loses to Monson, retirement will probably be his best option.
Monson, who has been looking to fight a big-name for a while, will definitely bring his A-game against Fedor. Monson never got his wish to fight former UFC fighter Kimbo Slice, but he’s getting an even better fight in November.
Most hard core MMA fans are probably familiar with Monson’s famous online video in which he challenged Kimbo to a fight. Monson’s teammate Mike Brown replied to his challenge, making an interesting video of his own.
Monson hasn’t really gotten the attention an MMA fighter with his resume should get, and he’ll probably try to take some of that frustration out on the “The Last Emperor.”
