Derrick Lewis drubs Ruan Potts into second-round TKO defeat.

Two emerging Heavyweights went head-to-head to open up the late prelims on Fox Sports 1.

Derrick Lewis, an American fighting beacon, stepped in to scrap with another powerful big-man in Ruan Potts, 37, from South Africa.

Potts came closest to finishing the fight in round one, catching and nearly submitting Lewis with a leg lock. Lewis would escape this, but was pressured by Potts for the remainder of the round.

Derrick Lewis still landed the better of the strikes, though, giving him some basis to steal the round on at least one judge’s total.

It wouldn’t matter.

Ruan Potts was absolutely obliterated in round two, absorbing punishment before being forced off of his feet, to the bottom of the mount, and yielding after being knocked off his senses for over three minutes.

Lewis wins another, and his savagely punching leads the way.
